The note [05 Feb 2004|05:30pm]

"[ 32] Chalgyr: A shift in things on KotL
Mon Feb 2 23:56:31 2004
To: all
As most of you know, we do have a 2nd MUD in the works, but it is on hold indefinately as we turn our focus towards fixing quite a few of the lingering problems that we as a staff feel have crept into our original design.

As of Friday evening this week, we will be doing a player wipe here on KotL. This will be followed-up with a time of mortal lockout, as we attempt to adjust quite a few core parts of the game. This includes pk, kingdom/religion roster management, leveling, stats, balance and areas. I will not give a hard timeframe of how long this shutdown will last. Basically until we're happy with the final product. I'm not talking about 3 or 6 months, or a year. Hopefully nothing that long.

When we re-open, it will be from scratch. There will be no grandfathering in of equipment, ranks, quest tokens, or the like.

I definitely think the end result will be worth it, and there will be web and yahoo group updates, so check in on those places to keep current with our progress.

I do apologize to those of you who lose time and effort, but as a staff we also take a good deal of loss on this. But this is something that on the whole, we here feel is in the best interests of making KotL better for everyone, in the long run.

There will likely be some staff changes before it's all said and done, if nothing else, in levels. As you know, Kaylie is away for a time on personal matters, and Farnite has left the staff, and we very much wish him the best, and he has a standing invite to return.

If you have questions, comments or hate-mail, note me, or email me at [email].

Likely we will be looking for player testers in a couple of weeks or so after the playerwipe to help test a few of our newer implimentations. If you are interested in trying to help us with this - there will be no reward or carryover to our re-opening for this, then contact me and let me know.

Thank you,

The Staff of KotL"

One door closes, and another opens. [03 Jan 2004|11:27pm]

Rays of purple light fell through the edge of a clearing, against a forest of lush green trees. In the center stood a small woman, and she gazed thoughtfully at the tips of the trees as she greeted the Goddess Serra. She took a deep breath, and closed her eyes. "I know what I must do," she whispered to herself. She rested on the patch of grass she had used to sleep the night before, and collected her thoughts, reminiscing.

My dream... has given me the answer that I really have known all along. Aloryn has spoken justly to me. I knew I was to have a vision in my sleep, and I found this clearing at the edge of Murkwood so as not to be disturbed. As I fell asleep, I saw my Goddess. I stepped into a mirage of light and heat, and I knew instantly whom I stood before. I recall kneeling before her, and she lifted me and told me of my duties. My time in Murkwood is now finished. I have completed my task. There is peace throughout my kingdom, and prosperity shall follow. A new leader shall rise, my friend, Cyrene, the Bard. I have ruled for many years, and although my body has not aged, my mind has. I am ready for a new path. Aloryn disappeared and I fell into a deep sleep, and I remember only waking at the first signs of dawn.

Melody gathered her belongings and prepared to cast a gate to tell Cyrene of what she must do. But, she hesitated. She took a last glance at the sunrise, and set off into the forest on foot, huffing heavily, but determined to reach the city by noon.

I Downloaded the database from 'Extended Play' from the KOTL web site. I must have done something wrong as I would get disconnected as soon as I logged on to the game yesterday.
After I deleted what I had downloaded, I was able to connect again.
I was able to log on as a new player. I have yet to get out of the newbie area (??), but could do nothing as Gange.
Good, I'm not. Well, I never claimed to be good.

Problem? [29 Dec 2003|12:12pm]
[ mood | depressed ]

Is there a problem with the site? I hope so, 'cause if there is not a problem, then I must be banned :-(
If I am banned, would someone let me know what I did wrong?

HOPEFULLY, I a problem will be fixed soon and I will be on with all the friends I have made, AND be meeting/making new ones.

Treasure [26 Dec 2003|06:17am]
[ mood | okay ]

This is my first post. It is kind of a test post.
I have had a lot of fun and met some good people on KOTL. I have to admit they are the greatest treasures I have found. The other treasures, like a ruby or crystal shell, or a pearl from the rainbow fish, are they worth anything?
I have found gems, both large and small, I was told to shatter them ... ?? Are they only good to make into tokens?
Does anyone know?
Hope everyone had a safe holiday.

Welcome to the Kingdoms of the Lost community! Though I will admit that I did none of the coding work (thank Ragnor for that ^_^), I helped a little in coming up with the idea, so I guess I'll put up a bit of a beginning message for the community.

As I stated in a note I posted to the members of the MUD, anyone and everyone who plays (or even has played) KotL is welcome here. It would be nice to get quite a few people here, just to chat about, well, pretty much anything. The point of the community is to try and provide a bit of a gathering place for KotL members. Any topic of discussion, related to KotL or not, is encouraged, but in keeping with the traditions of the MUD itself, nothing should go beyond an R rating in this community. Besides, I can't see much need for explicit sex here... can you? ^_~ ^_~.

I think some of that sounded slightly formal-ish, but that's not really what this is meant to be. In fact, I hope that those of us who can get journals and do join the community will start lots of random conversations, and in that way we will all add to the fun and enjoyment in this place. :)

So... post away!
